Después del almuerzo asistimos al culto en la iglesia luterana que está cerca de la Casa Consistorial — en ésta hay un elegante monumento de Michael de Ruyter, en conmemoración de su famoso triunfo naval y trofeos de guerra en varios sitios —. El techo del pulpito demuestra gran ingeniosidad, pero poco gusto cuando se le compara con el conjunto; el órgano es grande y está sostenido por columnas de mármol. Tuvimos la fortuna de presenciar el matrimonio simultáneo de siete parejas; admitidos al Sanctasanctórum, tuvimos la oportunidad de observar en detalle la ceremonia y el comportamiento de los interesados. Todo terminó en unos diez minutos, y las parejas salieron de la iglesia poniendo un pie delante del otro, con la misma actitud indiferente y semblante imperturbable con que entraron.
