Permit me, my dear friends, to express my grateful remembrance of the most generous civilitis I received from you, during my stay at Charleston — and excuse my having not done it before as I wished; because the coldness of the climate (for a South american being) and the number of agreeable fatiguing Visits I have received on my arrival at this place, have prevented it intirely—. Be pleased, to remind me in the most affectionate manner to Mrs. Ward, and beg her to pressent my respects to Mrs. Eliot, Mrs Jugy, & Miss Eliot, which kind atentions to me never shall be effaced from mind—. if at any time circunstances shall put me in a situation of being of any service to you, I will be excedingly happy in receiving your comands, and in being able to convince you of the sincerity of my sentiments.
I wish I could write this language in a better manner to tell you many other things more that comes to my mind, and my heart dictates—. But be persuad'd always

Permítanme, mis queridos amigos, expresar mi grato recuerdo por las generosas cortesías que he recibido durante mi estancia en Charleston, y perdonen no haberío hecho antes, como lo deseaba, porque el clima frío (para un suramericano) y el número de agradables y fatigosas visitas que he recibido a mi llegada a este lugar, me lo han impedido completamente. Les ruego me recuerden del modo más afectuoso a la Sra. Ward, y le pidan que presente mis respetos a la Sra. Elliot, Sra. Jugy y a la señorita Elliot, cuyas amables atenciones nunca se borrarán de mi mente. Si en algún momento, las circunstancias me pusiesen en situación de poder servirles, seré sumamente feliz recibiendo sus órdenes y pudiendo convencerles de la sinceridad de mis sentimientos.
