My dear Brother.
This Letter will be delivered to you by my particular Friend Colo Miranda, late Secretary to Genl. Cagigal the Governor of the Havanna, and an officer of distinguish's merit in the Spanish Service.
He has unhappily for him met with that Fate, which has to often befallen the man of virtues, and Talents in an Arbitrary Governement, the Prosecution of bigotted and intriguing men: and it is not Improbable but the same spirit of his Enemies may Endeaver to Extend itself to him during his Residence in England, which he visits with a view of enlarging the Circle of his knowledge, till the storm which has been unjustly raised against him is Clean over.—You will do an Act of singular Justice, and Humanity in aiding with your advise, in promoting his happiness and Security while he resides amongst you; and should he judge it advisable, for attaining the last object to have a conference with the present Primer Minister, will you take him by the hand favor me with being his

Esta carta le será entregada por uno de mis mejores amigos, el coronel Miranda, antiguo secretario del general Cagigal, el gobernador de La Habana, y un oficial de distinguido mérito al servicio de España.
Para su desgracia se ha encontrado con un destino que a menudo recae sobre el hombre de virtudes y talentos en un gobierno arbitrario, es decir, la persecución por parte de hombres fanáticos e intrigantes, y no es improbable que el mismo espíritu de sus enemigos intente alcanzarle durante su estancia en Inglaterra, la que visita con miras a ampliar el círculo de su conocimiento, hasta que la tormenta provocada injustamente contra él haya pasado enteramente. V. hará un acto de verdadera justicia y humanidad, ayudándolo con su consejo, fomentando su felicidad y seguridad mientras permanezca entre Vms., y si él juzgase conveniente, para conseguir esta última, tener una entrevista con el actual primer ministro, le ruego me haga el favor de ayudarlo, sirviéndole de
